Unmade Bed

The Lips paired this Sonic Youth cover with Led Zeppelin's "No Quarter" for their 2006 NPR World Cafe appearance.

Wayne's Notes from At War With The Mystics 5.1:

"This is a strange melting of a Sonic Youth song and a Led Zeppelin song. We had done a cover of South Youth's "Death Valley '69" back in 1986... It was on a Flexi-Disk that came in a Boston based fanzine. It was preceded by, of all things, ["Thank You"], a Led Zeppelin cover. We decided to do a '20 years on' update."

Flaming Lips Version
Look who's come back home again
Loser looking for his lucky break
This time he says he just needs a friend
Ain't on the run, he ain't on the take

Can you just unlock this door babe
Will you just undo the chain
Will you take your time before you mix up love
His love and pain

Loneliness lays down his head
Wants to get you high, better take it now
A man like that's like an unmade bed
Stained eyes searching for another way out

Do you really even want this
Maybe you just don't care
All I know it takes just one kiss, babe
For you, he's never there

Hey I know it's kinda hard
Maybe this time it will never end
Hit-and-run lover back in your heart
All those answered prayers you should never have sent

Now that you're in his arms babe
Now that you're just in his way
Suckered by his fatal charms
Oh girl, it's time we get away
