If I Only Had A Brain
The Lips recorded a version of "If I Only Had A Brain," a song written by Harold Arlen (music) and E.Y. Harburg (lyrics) for the 1939 film, The Wizard Of Oz for the "Stubbs The Zombie" video game and soundtrack. They have also covered "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" from the film.
Flaming Lips Version
I could wile away the hours
Conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain
And my head I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain
I'd unravel every riddle
For any individ'le
In trouble or in pain
(With the thoughts you'd be thinkin'
You could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain)
Oh, I would tell you why
The ocean's near the shore
I could think of things I never thought before
And then I'd sit and think some more
I would not be just a nuffin'
My head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain
I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had a brain
Oh, I would tell you why
The ocean's near the shore
I could think of things I never thought before
And then I'd sit and think some more
I would not be just a nuffin'
My head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain
I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had a brain
I could wile away the hours
Conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain
And my head I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain
For any individ'le
In trouble or in pain
You could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain)
The ocean's near the shore
I could think of things I never thought before
And then I'd sit and think some more
My head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain
I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had a brain
The ocean's near the shore
I could think of things I never thought before
And then I'd sit and think some more
My head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain
I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had a brain
Live
"If I Only Had A Brain" has only been played live once, as part of a radio appearance with the theme of Pink Floyd crossed with The Wizard Of Oz, akin to the famous synching of the Dark Side Of The Moon album to the film. This appearance occurred years before the song was released on the "Stubbs The Zombie" game and soundtrack.
