I Can't Explain

The Lips collaborated on this cover of The Who's "I Can't Explain" with original songwriter Pete Townshend. Wayne described the chance to perform with one of their artistic idols a "great moment in our lives." This version of the song is much more somber and mournful than The Who's upbeat original.

Flaming Lips and Pete Townshend Version
I got a feeling inside (can't explain)
A certain kind ( I can't explain)
I feel hot and cold (I can't explain)
Way down in my soul (I can't explain)

Said I can't explain
I'm feeling good now, yeah, but (can't explain)

I'm dizzy in the head, but I feel bad
The things you've said, they got me going mad
I'm gettin' funny dreams again and again
I know what it means, but

I can't explain
I think it's love
Try to say it to you
When I feel blue

But I can't explain (I can't explain)
Feeling good now yeah (but I can't explain)
Piano!

I'm dizzy in the head and I'm feeling bad
The things you've said have got me real mad
I'm gettin' funny dreams again and again
I know what it means but

I can't explain
I think it's love
Try to say it to you
When I feel blue

But I can't explain it
No, no, no, no no
Can't explain it (can't explain it)
Feeling good (can't explain)
