07-19-2009 Pitchfork Music Festival, Chicago IL USA

Venue: Union Park

Opening Band: M83, The Thermals, Blitzen Trapper, The Mae Shi

This show marked the first performance of "Convinced Of The Hex," and the first United States (third overall) performance of "Silver Trembling Hands." It also featured the first performance of "Bad Days" since a one-off in 1999 and the regularly toured version in 1996, as well as the debut of "Enthusiasm For Life Defeats Internal, Existential Fear," which Wayne said would never be played again. In addition, this show debuted a new stage introduction, with the band entering the stage through an open panel of the backing video screen, while the backing video displays images of a psychedelic naked woman. The space bubble was accompanied by a new instrumental. The entire show was webcast at http://www.pitchforkmusicfestival.com.
