Opening Band: The Flaming Lips opened and performed as Beck's band

This performance opening for Beck was brief but eventful.

Following "Fight Test," two of the animal stage dancers started having sex and were removed. Wayne said, "Look at this, where are you going to see that happening? Furries, furries, you'll read about that in Discover Magazine. It's a sexual fetish, there's a lot more people doing it than you think." Steven simply said, "Wow. Whoa."

Technical difficulties killed most of the Lips' stage power from "Lightning Strikes The Postman" onwards. The remaining songs were unique, stripped arrangements without their backing tracks, including a rare modern performance of "Put The Waterbug In The Policeman's Ear."

Power was restored for the Beck set, which featured the Beck/Flaming Lips tour debut of "Sunday Sun."
